Web/broadcast specialization
The Internet has become a major new distribution method for information. As the technology develops, the Web will become an expanding medium for video and audio delivery. At Northwest College, we're anticipating this future with Webcasting classes. Students prepare recorded programs available anytime on our Trail Website, linked at the Northwest Trail button to the left. Similarly, traditional video production in news and related fields allows students to present their work to a worldwide audience. Students gain experiences in live productions streamed over the Internet. We Webcast events such as athletics, concerts by student performers and a variety of speakers who visit the campus. In addition, the site presents work from the student newspaper, The Northwest Trail, online.
This degree allows students to specialize in journalism with an emphasis in Web/broadcast media. Students learn production techniques for digital video and audio Webcasting as well as desktop non-linear video and audio editing on the computer.
The Trail online site placed as a national semifinalist in the 2000 Associated Collegiate Press competition, one of the 40 top sites in the nation.
