Directors Jan Kleiwer and Bob Hunt have made the cast decisions for this spring’s musical, Fiddler on the Roof.
After observing auditions on Jan. 24 by students and community members, Kleiwer and Hunt narrowed it down to 29 people needed to fill the play’s cast.
Nick Johnson will play the lead, Tevye, an intelligent, traditional but poor dairyman.
Maria Frame will play Golde, Tevye’s less than cooperative wife.
Mariah George plays Tzeital, the couple’s eldest daughter. Nathan Seymour takes the part of Motel, a tailor in love with Tzeital.
Sarah Olson will play Hodel, Teyve’s second oldest daughter in love with Perchik, played by Brendan MacNeil. Maria Lechner plays Chava, Tevye’s middle daughter who chases a Russian gentile, while Emily King takes the part of Shprintze with Jessica Martin as Bielke, Tevye’s youngest daughters.
Charlie Cordova plays Mendel, the rabbi’s son.
David Hillshafer plays Lazar Wolf, a butcher who wants to marry Tzeital.
Katie Robichaud is cast as Yente the matchmaker.
Josie Nickles will play Golde’s grandmother.
Other members of the cast include Rachael Scott, Joon Park, Tyler Ernst, Glen Prell as Nahum, Nathan Smith as Tevye’s friend the constable, Luke Sorenson, Hanna Olsen, Shelby Moore, Manon Koningstein, Meg Nichols, Aly Stack, Christy Savage, Van Savage, Debbie Brown, Cora Ricks and Lisa Duncan.
The well-known musical played for years on Broadway and was later made into a film.
Fiddler on the Roof plays April 7 and 8 in the Nelson auditorium.
