The Northwest College Cody Center, which offers work force development and adult literacy programs as well as classes through the NWC extended campus office, will soon get a new home.

The Cody Center will move from its current location on Bighorn Avenue to the former Marathon building on Stampede Avenue. Officials at NWC were hoping to have the Cody Center open in its new location for the current semester but obtaining a lease from Park County, who recently acquired the building from the Marathon Oil Corporation, was delayed.

The holdup, which centered on minor scheduling conflicts between NWC and Park County, was recently hammered out allowing, NWC to pick up the lease.

Even with the delay NWC President Miles LaRowe, who has been a main force behind this upgrade, is confident that the Cody Center will open in its new location for the spring semester.

Space at the center has been at a premium for some time, “The current center is simply too small,” said LaRowe. “We’re adding almost four times the space.”

Going from 2,500 square feet to approximately 10,000 square feet will not only allow the Cody Center to expand its current curriculum, but to add more programming as time goes on.
