Lying, cheating and drugs, newcomers to the rock scene Hinder, have all of the rock and roll bases covered with their first album Extreme Behavior. With their latest single “Lips of an Angel” currently ranked 18th on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and their first single “Get Stoned” receiving high airplay as well, the band has definitely made a name for themselves since the albums release in September 2005.
Hinder’s lyrics are honest, they don’t hold anything back. The band has received multiple comparisons by their critics to rock power-house Nickleback, but almost all newcomers are compared to one group or another and who better to be likened to then multi-platinum selling group Nickleback? Hinder can only hope to match that kind of success.
Since its release last September, Extreme Behavior has sold a total of 293,905 copies. Sales of the album in the past few week have increased by nearly 20 percent, mainly due to the popularity of “Lips of an Angel” and word of mouth among fans.
The album starts out with the controversial first single entitled “Get Stoned,” which got plenty of airplay on rock stations around the country and made Hinder known in the rock world. One of my personal favorite songs from Extreme Behavior is “Nothing Good About Goodbye.” I like it because it takes a new view on breaking up, where the edges don’t always wind up smooth. I like this song because of its honesty and the great instrumentals. Another one of my favorites, and possibly, in my opinion, the best song on the entire album is “Lips of an Angel.” This single is extremely catchy and never gets old, and I love the intensity that the lead singer Austin Winkler has well performing this song.
Hinder is off to a great start with Extreme Behavior, it is an amazing album, and with all of the fantastic songs contained, their success can only grow. I could have it on repeat all day, and usually do. This album is definitely not a waste of your hard-earned money.
